Brief History:
Needy Lesnicki spent her whole life in the same town, and most of that life with her best friend since childhood, Jennifer Check. While Jennifer didn't always treat her the best, Needy didn't really care - it was her best friend, after all. She was quite a bit nerdier than her beautiful, pep squad flag girl friend, but their relationship didn't change that much even as they hit high school. Things were going pretty well for Needy, she even had a boyfriend, Chip.
Then, one night, Jennifer wanted to go see a new band, Low Shoulder. They went, and there was a fire. Jennifer went off with the band in their van, even though Needy had her concerns. Later that night, Jennifer comes back, acting strangely and puking a black substance all over Needy's floor. The next day, she shrugs off Needy's concerns. Meanwhile, boys in the town start disappearing, brutally murdered, and Low Shoulder gains a cult following.
Needy starts to suspect Jennifer of the disappearances, thinking she's been taking over by a demon, but no one will believe her. Jennifer kills Colin, the emo kid at school, because Needy had some interest. Needy is slowly being driven insane by her knowledge of what's going on, until Jennifer tells her that it's true, she is the one doing the killings, as she needs to eat people to survive. She tells Needy that she was sacrificed by Low Shoulder, only because she wasn't a virgin, the sacrifice went wrong and a demonic spirit inhabited her body.
After this, Jennifer goes after Chip at the school dance. Needy tries to kill her to save Chip, but Chip dies anyway. Needy, in her rage, returns to Jennifer's house and kills her best friend. She is sent to an asylum, and is a problem patient, until she realizes the bite Jennifer gave her in the final showdown gave her some of the demon powers. She breaks out of the asylum and tracks down and kills Low Shoulder, who are now world famous.
Not knowing what to do now, and not wanting to return to the Asylum, Needy goes to Kansas, adopts an assumed identity, and starts college, hoping to avoid any sign of her old life. She still can float, though.
